I know animation is expensive, and you rarely have long animated films, but for an epic story like Moses, The Prince of Egypt seemed all too rushed. Prince of Egypt I admired the excellent animation, Zimmer's score, and the songs, but to me it felt way to short. Final Video Yay! I'm Finally done with all the videos, I was getting sick of staring at my ugly mug. Despite my opinions this film is definetly worth taking a look at, however I would opt for Charlton Heston's Ten Commandments anyday. Children don't really care who the voice behind the character is, they want a movie that speaks to them.
Although filled with Hollywood celebs, one thinks that the film would have been much more profitable with a bunch of nobodies providing the voices. I won't go into too much detail about the plot as we all know the story. One feels excietment when Moses first meets God, astonishment when the Red Sea parts, and uplifted when the songs are performed. The movie does know how to play with the viewer. Although it doesn't strike me as an epic Hollywood film like The Ten Commandments, it is a good movie to introduce children to the biblical tale, which is not watered down by religious interpretation. The Prince of Egypt - Dreamwork's take on the Moses story - is a good movie, who's main theme is to believe, no matter the odds.
I meant to post this one sooner, but here it is regardless.
